Literally in shock. Couldn’t move when I saw the news alert on phone and on news site. I thought it was one of those really bad hoaxes. But the news was real, all too real.
I saw Prince three times in concert, twice at Saenger Theater in New Orleans then at Superdome in New Orleans with Sheila E. I even met Vanity 6 and The Time at local club off Elysian Fields on Marigny & Claiborne, while a luckier friend got to meet Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and Prince in French Quarter area.
But talk about major part of soundtrack of teen years:

Prince album with I Wanna Be Your Lover
Dirty Mind which I STILL play almost daily, and one of the few albums I can play in its entirety: Uptown, Party Up, Head (which was the club jam of the century), When You Were Mine, Sister, Do It All Night, Got A Broken Heart Again!!
THEN he comes back again with Controversy which always reminds me of all the times we skipped school and headed to lake front with Controversy EIGHT-TRACK playing in background hehe I think that was one of the last 8-tracks of the 80s. But this was another album that could be played from beginning to end!
1999 – I waited in line for hours at local record store in New Orleans for autographed copy!!
Purple Rain – Computer Blue is one of my all-time favorite songs, and it highlights ALL of Prince’s talents.
Man, 2016 is really starting to suck! Natalie Cole, Maurice White of Earth, Wind & Fire, Glenn Frey (Eagles’ The Long Run was also part of fun junior and high school memories), David Bowie, Vanity (Denise Matthews, who will be waiting to greet Prince), and now Prince. 🙁 Meanwhile, Cheney-Dick is still alive… let that sink in then you’ll see why this loss is hard to accept, especially after losing my brother to a senseless murder.
